SKETCHUP LICENCE HELP
Click the questions below to help troubleshoot problems with your SketchUp licence.
If you are RENEWING your SketchUp licence, you won’t get an activation email sent to you. Your access will just continue uninterrupted in the background and you don’t need to do anything.
If this is a NEW licence, please check your JUNK and SPAM folders to see if the email is there. Also make sure you are checking the inbox of the same email address you used to purchase your licence. It can take up to 24 hours for the email to arrive, although it usually arrives within a few hours.
If you’ve checked all of the above, then please email us at hello@interiordesignershub.co.uk for help during UK business hours.
Please watch this short video which will help with the installation process. In this video we show you how to download the 2025 version of SketchUp because that was the current licence at the time of recording this video, but if you are watching this in 2026, 2027 or beyond, make sure that you are downloading the most recent version. Please also check the other questions on this page if you run into problems.
(1) If you land on the ‘My Products’ page and there are no products, please click on the ‘Account Management Portal’ link under the ‘SketchUp’ heading. The video here shows you where to click, so please watch it before contacting us.
(2) Please make sure that you are selecting the ‘ID STUDENTS AND GRADUATES’ account from the pop up box when prompted, and that this is the account showing in the left hand side menu (NOT your own personal account). Please see the video for an explanation.
(3) Please make sure you have signed in with the same email address you used to purchase your SketchUp licence with. You can check which email address you are signed in with on the left hand menu of the screen, as shown in the video here.
(4) If you have checked all of the above then please email us at hello@interiordesignershub.co.uk, letting us know that you have already followed these steps, and we will be there to assist you during UK business hours.
The January date you see on your dashboard is not YOUR licence renewal date; it is the renewal date of our bulk university licence. Unfortunately this date can cause confusion but Trimble are unable to change this. Please rest assured that this date doesn’t relate to your access at all: you have a full 12 months of access to your licence from the date of your purchase.
SketchUp periodically checks a user’s licence credentials by requiring them to sign in to the SketchUp app, even if you were signed in before. If you see a message that you aren’t currently licensed, then sign out of the app by clicking the avatar in the top right hand corner, and then launch the app again, and sign in again. SketchUp will then allow you to use the app without signing in each time, until the next licence check.
Sometimes you have to sign out and back in on the app itself as well as on the SketchUp website. We know it’s frustrating, but it’s just the way that SketchUp checks that its users have a current licence from time to time.
Please watch the video for a further explanation.
This message can appear if you have signed into SketchUp on multiple devices (for example on a desktop, laptop and another device) or you have downloaded a new version of SketchUp.
To fix this, you need to deactivate your devices and then you can sign in again. Don’t worry, you won’t lose any of your work; it’s just a case of reminding SketchUp which devices you are using.
Watch this video or follow the instructions below to deauthorise and reauthorise your device:
(1) Go to SketchUp.com and log in
(2) Go to My Products and select your SketchUp Licence.
(3) Click on ‘View Included Applications’
(4) Under ‘SketchUp Pro’ click on ‘Manage Devices’
(5) In the pop up box, select ‘Deauthorize all’ and ten click ‘done’.
(6) Click your profile icon in the top right corner and select Sign Out.
(7) If you had SketchUp open on a device before you deauthorized all devices, you’ll need to close it, relaunch it, then sign in again using your Trimble ID.
This error message pops up intermittently. It can be quite annoying, but it isn’t anything to worry about. The problem usually resolves itself if you try again a short time later. It can helpful to try restarting your computer and trying again.
This message pops up on the licensing screen under the ‘Classic Licence’ option. Your licence type is a ‘Subscription’ not a ‘Classic’. At the top of the screen, click on ‘Subscription Plan’ instead of ‘Classic’.
Check the other questions above but, if that doesn’t resolve them, then check that your device is compatible with software. You can check the hardware and software requirements to run SketchUp by clicking 🔗 HERE 🔗
